Kathmandu Chisapani Nagarkot Dhulikhel Tour

Day 1 Arrival in Kathmandu.

Our office representative will be at the airport awaiting your arrival with our office vehicle to pick you up and transfer you to your designated hotel. After refreshing yourself, our tour executive will give you an orientation on your program. After this you are free to get familiar with your surroundings, this will help you to localize. Have supper and then get set for your first overnight in the valley of temples and cows, probably the most on earth.

Day 2: Cultural tour of ancient Kathmandu.

After breakfast, we begin our sightseeing tour with a short drive to Boudhanath - the largest stupa in Nepal and a centre point of Tibetan culture in Kathmandu. The stupa is designed in the shape of a giant mandala (assumed to be a representation of the Buddhist cosmos). Our next destination is the Pashupatinath Temple. Pashupatinath temple is dedicated to the Hindu deity Lord Shiva and is said to be the most revered shrine for Hindus in Nepal. Hereabouts, you can witness cremation rituals of Hindus at ‘Aryaghat’, the cremation area of the temple.  Our next stop is Bhaktapur. Spread over an area of 6.88 sq km, 12 km south-east of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur Durbar Square or Bhadgaon showcases the ancient grandiose of the Golden Age of Nepali art and architecture. Built by King Anand Dev Malla in the 9th century, the city was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979. It has remained a model for heritage conservation since then. At the Bhaktapur Durbar Square, you will find many fine examples of sculpture, woodcarving and pagodas dedicated to different gods and goddesses – the Nyatapol & Dattaraya Temples, the Golden Gate, Palace of 55 windows that also has marks of bullet penetrations, a tragic tale of this once-upon-a-time independent kingdom. At dusk, we return to our hotel.
 

Day 3: Drive from Kathmandu to Sundarijal, trek to Chisapani.

After breakfast at the hotel, proceed toward to Sundarijal this would take approximately one hour and then trek from Sundarijal to Chisapani which takes another four and a half hours. The trail will enter through the Shivpuri Watershed and Wildlife Reserve. The first settlement we will come across is Mulkharka inhabited by the Tamang community. The route heads down a ridge through a forest of oak and rhododendron to Chisopani (2300m). We haul up for the night in a lodge.
 

Day 4: Trek from Chisapani to Nagarkot.

Breakfast at lodge and we head to our next destination, we reckon this should take about six and a half hours. Our trail leads to Chauki Bhanjyang, which takes about 2 and a half hours. We continue along a pleasant trail which leads us to Nagarkot.  Nagarkot, at (2175m) is by far one of the most well-known destinations for those looking for that unique serenity. In clear weather the Himalaya range, stretching from Dhaulagiri in the west all the way past Everest to Kanchenjunga in the east emerges from the darkness in the early dawn to greet happy visitors with its unforgettable inspiring majesty and beauty. We crash out at our hotel in this bewitching town well placed on a convenient hillock.

Day 5: Trek from Nagarkot to Dhulikhel.

Breakfast at the hotel and we head to next destination. This should take about six hours. As we approach Dhulikhel, an abundance of cultural diversities, interesting traditional practices, lush vegetation and rich birdlife unfolds before us. Dhulikhel, at (1440m) is a small little town with a long history. According to records, this town has been on historical records for more than 500 years. The artistic skill and urban culture of its Newar inhabitants have created a place of medieval charm and beauty. 

The Streets are lined with bare-brick houses, carved wooden windows, sloping tiled roofs, pagoda temples and sacred statues throughout the town. The prime places of worship here are the Narayan and Harisiddhi temples which are adorned with prolific wood carvings. The Gokhureswar Mahadev temple, a 30-minute walk to the eastern part of town, is a peaceful and scenic spot. The Bhagawati temple is situated high-up in the western part of Dhulikhel and dominates the skyline. From hereabouts, we get striking vistas of the town and surrounding areas. Day 6: Trek from Dhulikhel to Namo Buddha - Panauti – drive to Kathmandu.

After breakfast, there will be approximately four and half hours trek and from Panauti to Kathmandu will take about one and a half hours. From Dhulikhel, the trail climbs up to the Kali Mandir, a temple dedicated to Goddess Kali. From there the trail then plunges down to the village of Kavre past a line of shops and tea houses. It then climbs again through pine woods past Phulbari and up and down several hillocks before we reach the hill of NamoBuddha. Namobouddha is situated at an elevation of 1750m and is a very important Buddhist Pilgrimage site located in Kavre District. The Stupa and shrines built on this lovely little hill mark a very ancient holy site where the myth goes that a legendary prince named Mahasattva offered himself to a starving Tigress with several underfed cubs. This legendary episode is depicted in a stone slab and placed right next to a holy Stupa. Late noon, we cruise back to Kathmandu and the rest of our day is free to do our own things. Maybe some shopping for loved ones at home would be the ideal thing to do. Overnight at your hotel

Day 7: Departure for home sweet home.

We have breakfast at our hotel and your time is free till transfer to Tribhuvan International Airport for final departure 3 hours prior to your flight time. Should you require any extensive activities, please do let us know. Accommodations in the valley are comfortable and as close as it gets to home. In Nagarkot, the hotel choices are just great and choices will suit any budget for a cool stay in this serene location. You will just love it. Dhap, Kakani and Shivapuri also provides a range of local village lodges that will suit your taste and budgets. Accommodations are never a problem in Nepal…the choices are exclusively yours.

The choices are a delicatessen’s delight in the valley for visitors with vibrant taste buds. You will find cuisines from almost every corner of the planet in this ancient city.
